Nepal Food Forum 2024: A Milestone for Sustainable Agrifood Systems

We are excited to share the successful conclusion of the Nepal Food Forum 2024, held on September 10, 2024. The event was inaugurated by the Mr Ram Sahaya Yadav, Rt. Honorable Vice President of Nepal, with the Mr Ram Nath Adhikari, Honorable Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development leading the inaugural session. Mr Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal warmly welcomed all attendees.

The Nepal Food Forum, launched this year, serves as an independent network of partners under the FAO Nepal country office. This year's theme, "Good food for all, for today and tomorrow," focuses on advancing Nepal's agrifood system and fostering a sustainable food future.

The forum featured three engaging technical sessions: Hand in Hand Initiative, Nepal Youth Action, and Science and Innovation. Each session was designed to foster discussions around "Activating Youth, Innovation, and Investments for Agrifood System Transformation in Nepal." These themes are critical as they highlight the importance of involving younger generations and innovative solutions in the journey toward a more resilient agrifood system.

We were proud to host over 800 participants physically, reflecting a broad spectrum of stakeholders invested in the future of Nepal’s food security, while numerous others joined virtually, showcasing the widespread interest and commitment to transforming Nepal’s agrifood landscape.

The Nepal Food Forum stands as the premier platform in the country for dialogue and action regarding agrifood systems. Our collective goal is to enhance these systems and work diligently towards achieving food security for all Nepali people.
