In 2021, Nepal joined the Hand-In-Hand Initiative with FAO support to enhance agrifood systems. By the 2022 Investment Summit, significant progress included baseline studies and proposals for key crops. The 2024 summit aims to attract more private sector investments to continue this transformation.

The Hand-in-Hand Initiative supports Nepal in transforming agri-food systems to boost food security, sustainability, and rural development. Investments focus on Large Cardamom, Timur, Highland Potato, and Pangasius Fish to enhance livelihoods, reduce poverty, and improve environmental sustainability.
